Mr. James A. McCaslin

James McCaslin serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

McCaslin joined Harley-Davidson in 1992 as Vice President and General Manager of the Company’s York, Pennsylvania Operations. He was appointed Vice President, Continuous Improvement in 1997. In 1999 he was made Vice President, Dealer Services, a position he held until accepting his current position in 2001.

Prior to joining Harley-Davidson, McCaslin spent three years at JI Case where he held positions as General Plant Manager of their Hamilton, Ontario Farm Implement Plant and of the East Moline, Illinois Combine Plant.

Before joining Case, McCaslin worked for Chrysler Corporation in Product and Quality Engineering as well as in plant management positions.  McCaslin’s career also includes six years at Volkswagen and ten years at General Motors’ Chevrolet Division.

McCaslin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the General Motors Institute and a Masters of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Virginia Tech.  He also attended the Advanced Management program at Harvard University.

McCaslin currently serves as board chairman of the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council, a non-profit industry coalition, and he is also a board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee.

McCaslin was born in Flint, Michigan and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. He has been a motorcycle enthusiast for more than ten years.
