Short Biography

Dr. S.M. Wu graduated from the Chiao-Tung University, Shanhai in 1945.  He earned his M.B.A from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1956 and Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1962

His research interest is in manufacturing, automation, engineering, statistics, stochastic processes and modeling.  He has written and co-authored over 250 technical papers which have been published in ASME Transactions, International Journal of Machine Tool Design and Research, NAMRC Proceedings, Technometrics, Nuclear Science and Engineering, etc., a book on “Time Series and System Analysis with Applications” by John Wiley, 1983. (co-authored with Pandit).

Dr Wu is on the editorial boards in NAMRC, CIRP manufacturing Systems and International Journal of MTDR.  He has lectured extensively both in academic institutes, industries, and foreign countries including Sweden, Swizerland, Germany, Hungary, Russia, Japan, Yugoslavia, Mexico, Korea, Singapore, Philippine, Taiwan, and P.R. of China.  He has Supervised more than 100 Ph.D’s.
